General Finishes Water-Based Wood Stain in Antique Oak brings a warm, traditional oak-brown color to interior wood while highlighting its natural grain and character. Its medium-bodied, high-quality pigment formula provides rich, even color and controlled penetration, including on wood species that can be challenging to stain, such as maple and pine. The low-odor, low-VOC, noncombustible water-based formulation spreads and blends easily, with convenient soap-and-water cleanup while wet.
Ideal for interior furniture, cabinets, doors, trim and other woodworking projects, Antique Oak stain may be applied with a synthetic-bristle or foam brush, roller, staining pad or compatible spray equipment. Prepare the wood by sanding and removing dust, and stir thoroughly before and during use. Apply evenly in manageable sections and follow the manufacturer's directions for wiping off excess stain. Test the complete finish on the same wood species first, as wood grain, surface preparation, lighting and protective topcoat selection affect the final color. A second coat can deepen the shade; avoid excessive stain buildup.
On raw wood, touch-dry time begins at approximately 30 minutes, with at least 2 hours of drying before recoating or applying a compatible water-based topcoat under ideal conditions. Allow at least 24 hours before applying an oil-based topcoat, and extend drying time in cool or humid conditions. Coverage is approximately 100–150 square feet per quart, depending on wood porosity and application. A protective topcoat is required for durability. For interior use only. Color: Antique Oak.
