General Finishes Water-Based Wood Stain in Brown Mahogany adds a rich, deep brown tone with warm reddish undertones to interior wood surfaces while allowing the natural grain to show through. Its medium-bodied, high-pigment formulation offers excellent control and uniform color, including on harder-to-stain wood species such as pine and maple. The low-odor, low-VOC, noncombustible water-based formula is designed to spread and blend easily with simple soap-and-water cleanup while wet.
Ideal for interior furniture, cabinets, doors, trim and wood-finishing projects, this stain may be applied with a synthetic-bristle or foam brush, roller, pad or suitable spray equipment. Prepare the wood by sanding and removing dust, then stir thoroughly before and during use. Apply evenly in manageable sections and follow the manufacturer's directions for wiping excess stain. Test your complete staining and topcoating process on a sample of the same wood species, as preparation, grain, lighting and topcoat selection can affect the final appearance.
On raw wood, touch-dry time starts at approximately 30 minutes, and recoat time is at least 2 hours under ideal conditions. Cool temperatures, high humidity and heavier coats can extend drying time. Approximate coverage is 100–150 square feet per quart, depending on wood porosity and application. A compatible protective topcoat is required for durability. For interior use only.
