General Finishes Water-Based Wood Stain, Antique Brown, 1 Quart

General Finishes Water-Based Wood Stain in Antique Brown delivers a rich, warm brown tone that enhances the natural grain of interior wood. Designed to provide workability similar to oil-based stains, its medium-bodied formula spreads easily and produces consistent color, including on woods that can be difficult to stain, such as maple and pine. The low-odor, low-VOC, noncombustible formula cleans up with soap and water while wet.

Ideal for staining furniture, cabinets, doors, trim and other interior woodworking projects, this stain can be applied with a synthetic-bristle brush, foam brush, staining pad, roller or suitable spray equipment. Prepare and sand the surface, stir thoroughly, apply an even coat and wipe off excess stain with the grain. Test the color on a sample first, as wood species and the final topcoat affect the appearance. One coat is generally recommended; a second coat can deepen the color.

Allow at least 2 hours of drying time under ideal conditions before recoating or applying a compatible water-based topcoat; allow at least 24 hours before applying an oil-based topcoat. A protective topcoat is required for durability. Approximate coverage is 100–150 sq. ft. per quart, depending on the wood and application. For indoor use only. Color: Antique Brown.
