General Finishes Water-Based Wood Stain in Tobacco adds a rich, warm brown tone that enhances the natural grain of interior wood. Its medium-bodied, high-quality pigment formula spreads smoothly, blends easily, and helps produce uniform color, including on hard-to-stain woods such as maple and pine. The water-based formula offers low odor, low VOC content, and convenient soap-and-water cleanup while wet.

Ideal for interior furniture, cabinets, doors, trim, and wood refinishing projects, Tobacco wood stain can be applied with a synthetic-bristle or foam brush, pad, roller, or suitable spray equipment. Start with clean, properly sanded wood, stir thoroughly before and during application, and work in manageable sections. Test the entire finishing process on an inconspicuous area first because wood species, surface preparation, lighting, and the topcoat can change the finished appearance. Additional stain coats may deepen the color.

The stain is typically touch-dry in 30 minutes or longer on raw wood and can be recoated after at least 2 hours under ideal conditions. Allow additional drying time in cooler or humid conditions. Approximate coverage is 100–150 square feet per quart, depending on wood porosity and application technique. A compatible protective topcoat is required for long-term durability.
